The ACMA and the Northern Territory Department of Industry, Tourism and Trade (DITT) have agreed to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will support greater cooperation in gambling regulation in Australia.
The Northern Territory licenses many of the large online bookmakers in Australia. For this reason, there are a growing number of gambling matters of common interest to the ACMA and DITT, including gambling licensing, unsolicited communications and self-exclusion.
The MoU will strengthen the relationship between the two agencies and will facilitate collaboration in matters of compliance monitoring, enforcement and education for online gambling. The agreement will also improve information and intelligence sharing processes between the ACMA and DITT to support effective regulation of the interactive gambling industry.
