In a path-breaking development, the US state of Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida have signed a thirty-year agreement to modernize the state’s gambling sector. The Florida state’s Governor Ron DeSantis stated that the historic deal that would finally establish a powerful framework for the state to generate new revenues and bring positive economic impacts.
The Florida House passed a new bill that allows the expansion of the gaming industry in the state by a 97-17 vote. The Senate also approved the bill. With both the Senate and the Florida House approving the agreement, The Seminole Tribe of Florida is all set to legally offer sports betting activities in the state.
As per the agreement, the state will receive over $2.5 billion in the first five years and over $20 billion in the next thirty years. The Seminole Tribe of Florida will offer sports betting activities alongside and expand its casinos’ gaming floors with roulette and craps games.
DeSantis thanked Marcellus Osceola Jr., the Chairman of Seminole Tribe of Florida, Wilton Simpson Senate President, and Chris Sprowls Florida House Speaker for their commitment towards modernizing the state’s gaming industry.
The Chairman of Seminole Tribe of Florida said that the Seminole Tribe of Florida thanked Mr. Sprowls, the state’s Governor, and Mr. Simpson who played a major role in concluding the historic agreement.
