The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has renewed the trade licences of offshore casinos in the Mandovi River. This location is provisional and the government is still working to find a definitive place for offshore casinos.

The operators also obtained a temporary waiver on payments of several taxes due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mayor Surendra Furtado said that the casinos had been allowed to resume operations as of November 1, and that the CCP had received requests from associated businesses, such as hotel owners and taxi operators, to renew the licences.

The licences were due to be renewed from March. The CCP will earn Rs5.2 million (US$69,655) from the renewal.
