MGCB Targets Eight Illegal Online Casinos Operating in Michigan

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has taken further enforcement action against unlicensed gambling operators, issuing cease-and-desist letters to eight online casinos found to be illegally offering internet gaming to Michigan residents.

The letters were recently sent to Aussie Play, CryptoGames, FortuneJack, Hugewin Casino, My Stake Casino, Play at Harry’s Casino, RuneChat, and Slots Garden.

“These unauthorized websites often appear sophisticated and legitimate, but they operate outside of Michigan law. When players gamble on unlicensed platforms, they’re putting their money and personal information at serious risk. The MGCB will not hesitate to intervene when we find operators ignoring our state’s gambling laws,” said Henry Williams, MGCB Executive Director.

Upholding Michigan’s Legal Framework

Michigan’s regulated internet gaming and sports betting markets are reserved exclusively for operators licensed and monitored by the MGCB. Any site that offers gambling without state authorization violates multiple statutes, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and sections of the Michigan Penal Code.

Unregulated sites do not provide the same safeguards required of licensed operators—such as independent testing of games, responsible gaming protocols, and the ability for players to file disputes or access self-exclusion tools. The MGCB has ordered all eight named entities to immediately stop accepting wagers from anyone located in Michigan.

Coordinated Enforcement and Consumer Protection

The agency continues to collaborate closely with the Michigan Department of Attorney General to investigate and pursue noncompliant operators. Repeat or willful violations could lead to additional enforcement measures.

“Every illegal site that operates here undermines the integrity of the legal market and puts consumers at risk. Our message remains consistent: If you want to do business in Michigan’s gaming industry, you must play by the rules and obtain a license,” Williams said.
