A request for comments and opinion on the proposed alterations to the regulations in the market was issued by the UK Gambling Commission.

Consumers, gambling businesses, stakeholders and members of the public can come up with their opinions on the suggested modifications to the rules associated with marketing and advertising, unfair terms, and complaints and disputes.

Potential changes to the UK regulations comprise of focus on compliance with the UK Advertising Codes to confirm that operators comply with consumer protection legislation, along with several advancements to complaint handling.

Sarah Gardner, the Executive Director of the UKGC, said: “We are proposing these changes because of the risk of consumer harm, concern about lack of compliance with consumer protection legislation, declining public trust in gambling and concerns about advertising.”

“We’re very keen to hear the views of all those with an interest in the gambling industry.”

The proposed changes form part of a wider work programme, which will require regulators, industry and partners to collaborate to deliver changes.

The deadline for giving opinion on the potential changes is April 22.
